CTF ILLINOIS ADVOCATES

Ravell

Ravell works at the Advocacy Center for CTF ILLINOIS. He recently collaborated with two EIU students to address the Student Council for Exceptional Children on living life.  His presentation was entitled Speak Up/Speak Out and was held on Thursday, December 11th at Buzzard Hall. Ravell would like to stress that all disabled individuals have skills and abilities that can benefit our community.  Ravell states, "It is a privilege and a pleasure to speak out on behalf of disabled people."  Please check out Ravell's EIU presentation under the Advocacy Center's news and events page.

Melissa

Melissa works as the receptionist at CTF ILLINOIS' Advocacy Center.  What does Melissa do?  Here's her response:  "I answer the phone, take messages and greet people when they come into the Center.  I also ask all the visitors to "sign in" so that we know who is in our building.  This helps to keep everyone safe.  I think I have a very important job to do." '

Melissa was asked what type of events would you like to do in the future.  She says she is looking forward to visiting a nursing home and singing Silent Night and helping people.  I just like to help people!"

Marilyn

Marilyn works at the CTF ILLINOIS' Advocacy Center.  She loves the new Center.  What does Marilyn do when she's not working at the Center?  She loves to bowl with her roommate and friend on Mondays.  She says she is quite good.

Marilyn was asked what type of events would you like to do in the future.  She stated, "I like cats and dogs so I think it would be great to volunteer at the local animal shelter."

Kim E.

Kim E. works at the CTF ILLINOIS' Advocacy Center.  Kim recently participated in the Eastern Illinois University (EIU) Homecoming Parade and handed out over 350 flyers announcing the opening of the new Advocacy Center.  It was a pretty long walk but well worth it!  Kim and the other Advocates at the center also participated in the parade at the Christmas in the Heart of Charleston on December 6th.  If you would like to check out some photos of both events, please click here to go to CTF ILLINOIS' Facebook page.

What does Kim do when she's not working at the Center?  She stated, "I would like to go to the Animal Shelter and pet kittens - this will help them to learn to be calm and happy around humans."

What else would Kim like to do?  Go to the Kiwanis Club meeting at the Lincoln Garden Restaurant and volunteer to read a magazine or book to someone in the nursing home.  Kim is a good reader.
