How You Can Help

Individual using therapy equipment purchased with donationsAs a not-for-profit human services organization, CTF's effectiveness is greatly enhanced when businesses and community members contribute time, money, or goods so that we can better serve individuals with developmental disabilities. Please consider giving in whatever capacity you are able. Here are some ways you can help:

Making a Purchase at Giveline.com
Giveline.com is an online store created for the community-minded shopper, offering more than a million bestselling products including books, movies, music, electronics, housewares, gifts and more. Every purchase generates a substantial donation to a charity of the buyer's choice – an amazing average of 16% of store sales, sometimes as high as 33%. The only difference between Giveline and other major online retailers is that every purchase earns money for our organization. Check it out today, and if you decide to buy, remember that Charleston Transitional Facility will earn significant funds in support of our mission.

Donating to the Individual Assistance Fund
CTF's Individual Assistance Fund (IAF) is a resource that is used specifically to purchase equipment, pay for healthcare services, and offer enrichment experiences that are not covered by other funding sources. It enables individuals with disabilites who are served by CTF to receive services and participate in activities that otherwise would not be available to them.

Charitable donations to CTF are tax-deductible. For more information, please call the CTF business office at (217) 348-8798.

Volunteering Your Time or Services
Do you have a special skill or talent that could benefit CTF and the clients we serve? Does your business provide a service that could be useful to individuals with developmental disabilities or to CTF as an organization? Whether you are a private citizen or a commercial business owner or representative, your volunteered time and services could make a big difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. Please consider giving of your time to help better the lives of people with disabilities.

Donations of commercial services are considered charitable donations and are tax deductible. For more information, please call the CTF business office at (217) 348-8798.

Donating Products or Supplies
Donations of useable items and supplies in good condition are always appreciated. Such donations are tax-deductible for both businesses and individuals. Items most useful to CTF include the following:

  • Home and office furnishings
  • Craft, educational, and office supplies
  • Recreational, sports, and exercise equipment
  • Household and kitchen items

If you have items you would like to donate to CTF, please first contact our business office at (217) 348-8798 and schedule a time to meet with a CTF representative and discuss how your potential donation can meet CTF's needs.

Participating in CTF's Recycling Program
CTF at Charleston has started an aluminum recycling program, and we need your help! On a regular basis, CTF individuals collect aluminum recyclables from local businesses and community members like you, process the items, and deliver them to the local recycling center. The proceeds from this program will help CTF do the following:

  • Provide paid vocational opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Provide funds for program supplies at our two Charleston day programs
  • Provide funds for community outings and activities for the individuals we serve

If you live in the Charleston, IL area and would like to participate by donating your aluminum, contact Barbara Jakubowski at (217) 348-8798.
