Direct
Service Provider, Residential CILAs (Community Integrated Living
Arrangements):
The Direct Service Provider (DSP) provides for the basic care and
training of the individuals with developmental disabilities. This
involves the areas of daily living skill development, speech and
language development, mobility, learning, and vocational development
as directed by State and Federal regulation. The DSP reports to the
Home Supervisor and/or the QMRP (Qualified Mental Retardation Professional).
General
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide
training to individuals with developmental disabilities in the
areas of self-care, communication,
self-direction, independent living, mobility and learning as directed
by the Individual Service Plan (ISP) in order to enhance each individual’s
skill development, health, freedom, and personal dignity.

Bathe, groom, and dress individuals, monitoring their appearance to
ensure that each person is dressed and groomed appropriately.

Supervise individuals during meals by serving family style and eating
with residents.

Assist individuals during in-house activities by conducting therapeutic
activities, such as physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts
and recreational games.

Train and support individuals in daily tasks, such as cleaning of living
areas, personal laundry responsibilities, meal preparation, and community
outings.

Report the development of individuals by observing and documenting
individual health care issues.

Maintain a clean and orderly home environment by performing general
cleaning duties.

When properly authorized and certified, supervise individuals in taking
medications as prescribed by the physician.

Adhere to confidentiality guidelines, as outlined by organization policy
and HIPAA regulations.

Attend Certified Habilitation Aide classes upon employment, and meet
training requirements in accordance with current applicable Federal,
State, and local standards, as well as organizational policies and
procedures.

Minimum
of 18 years of age with a High School diploma or G.E.D.

Current valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
preferred.

Able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable
manner.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure,
using whole numbers.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished
in written, oral or schedule form.

Capable of working with developmentally disabled adults by communicating
verbally (and possibly through sign language) to instruct, demonstrate,
train, and work cooperatively.

Stand, sit, bend, lift, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and
move intermittently and use hands to handle or feel.

Able to assist individuals with mobility.

Must frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move
more than 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance
vision, peripheral vision,
depth perception and ability to adjust focus if required to
drive a company vehicle.
