ABOUT BLUMENTHAL DAY PROGRAM
Blumenthal Day Program provides programs specific to individuals who are ready to retire from a work setting due to age, health, and/or personal reasons. Individuals at this location receive training in areas such as daily living skills, personal goals, sensory enhancement, and communication. Providing environments conducive to each individual's unique needs and abilities, Blumenthal employs one Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP), one Assistant QMRP and several Developmental Trainers, all of whom work closely to design and implement programs tailored to each individual's needs.
Our goal is to enrich the lives of those who attend our day program and maximize their potential. We do so by providing classroom activities such as music, exercise/fitness, spa/relaxation, arts and crafts, sign language, and self advocacy.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY OF CHARLESTON
Charleston is a progressive city of nearly 23,000 located in east central Illinois. Rich in the history of Abraham Lincoln, the city features a balance of industrial, agricultural, educational and cultural opportunities. Close to large metropolitan areas and having access to recreational sites, business and employment opportunities, Charleston offers a full range of living experiences that are generally only found in much larger communities.
The men and women attending the Blumenthal Day Program have many opportunities to participate in scheduled community outings. Many of the activities enjoyed by our individuals include going to the library, restaurants, local stores, parks, YMCA, and attending events in cultural, fine arts and nature in and around the city. We also enjoy giving back to the community by doing volunteer work such as meal deliveries to the elderly.
